Filming Day
The day before we were due to film one of our actors told us she would no longer be available at first this was a slight issue as we were suppose to be also using her dog but we soon worked around it and the problem was soon resolved. During planning we struggled to find someone with a car which was suitable for the image, the only available person with a car owned a Citroen C3 so when we came to filming the car we made sure it wasn’t obvious what make of car it was.
When it came to the day of filming we had a proper look around the location and realised that there was a lot more to it than we thought. This was good as it meant we could shoot more location shots and we also had a choice of where to film it. It also had an inside which we chose to film the flashbacks in which help to represent that it was perhaps at a different location than to where the body was being dumped. The room was darkly lit and was untidy which really helped the style of our piece.
We spent most of the day filming location shots and the flashbacks, when we decided we had filmed enough we asked Jason and Jamie to come to the location so we were able to film them as well as the owner of the car. This ran really smoothly and the boys worked really well and made our piece look really effective. In our planning we decided to have the car lights shine on the body before pulling away, however when it came to film this it wasn’t dark enough so it wasn’t very effective, so instead we filmed a slow pan along the body to add tension.
Overall I think our day of filming went really well, we shot plenty of footage to be able to use when editing. We also filmed a variety of camera shots as well as various location shots. The only problem may have been that the camera battery life was not long enough as one of our cameras ran out; luckily we had another camera which we were able to use.
Editing
As we were so successful on our day of filming we had plenty of footage to be working with. At first the process was slow and we were struggling a bit and we weren’t really sure where I piece was going, but after a few lessons of editing our piece soon began to piece together. I and Emily never really disagreed on anything as we both had the same image in our head and we knew what we wanted our final piece to look like.
The main problem we had when editing was probably that some of our footage didn’t come out as well as we thought it would. Such as some location shots weren’t very clear or zooms weren’t very steady. This wasn’t a huge problem though as we still had plenty to work with and our outcome was still successful.
